Affluent opponents of that $1.2-billion initiative used petitions, mass demonstrations, sympathetic celebrities (including a paid appearance by environmental crusader Erin Brockovich) and prominent local politicians to crush the project."
Years before 2009 too.
The City of Mississauga had fought it all the way to the OMB prior to the Oakville plant being announced.
